banivechi
This is Bulgarian king Ferdinand. And I can read something about liberation of Macedonia.
sturzny
The Macedonian campaign in WW-I was probably Ferdinand's "last hurrah". Bulgaria threw their lot with the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire) against Serbia and Greece (who had been allies of Bulgaria during the wars against the Ottomans). They had designs on all of Macedonian territory (which was far larger than the present-day country and stretched almost all the way from the Adriatic coast to the Black Sea, and included much of the Northern Aegean coast). They had some initial success and captured Skopje (capital of present-day Macedonia) from the Serbs (probably the "liberation" referred to) but as the War wore on they could not hold the territory against the advancing Allied armies and Ferdinand was forced to abdicate in 1918.
