Dave
Well, I've missed putting the last few banknotes in here, but this one I felt needed it. I welcome home this small sized National - back after a long and evidently not too perilous journey to parts unknown, though it's had some obvious 'experience' in the world, it's home for a nice, long stay. Dave
Here's picture of teh bank from back then. Well, actually this is from an old postcard. It is now the US Bank downtown, where I've done a bit of banking the last few years. I'll try to get a photo this weekend of the building if possible. It looks the same today, but it's a big building with other buildings so I might have to try to stitch together a few photos.
Dave M
Pretty neat to get a note from your home town, Dave! I don't have any US notes, but maybe one National from Folsom CA should be on my list (if there is one - how do I know?) Dave

Dave
THanks Dave and Art! It's my first one - now I need one of the large Nationals! Tiem to save .... or maybe ask Santa! DaveM I looked here: http://www.papermoneyfacts.com/national_cu...y_home_page.htm but I saw nothing for Folsom, sorry. Seems odd that there weren't any from there!! However, there is some scripophily if you're interested: http://search.store.yahoo.net/cgi-bin/nsea...mp;query=folsom Perhaps someone else has other info on whether Folsom had issued any? Thanks much for the info and links, Dave! It does seem odd that there are no National notes from Folsom... does that mean there were no banks here at that time? It would seem pretty weird, our town does have history (gold mining, a dam, etc) that dates to well earlier than the notes were issued, and while I'm sure it was much smaller then than it is now, it is as large as many of the other towns listed on that page. Dave There were commercial banks in Folsom, but no National banks. All the National Note issuing banks there were in Placerville, Lodi, Stockton, and mostly Sacramento. I would like to get Stockton Nationals sometime - they were the closest to where my family is from in Jackson, Amador County. There are even gold Nationals known on Sacto and Stockton banks, prominently the D.O. Mills Bank in Sacto. Also I know about the Folsom Dam and the mining of course, but what comes to mind to me is that there is a state prison there. But then there is one in Ione also, which effectively doubled the population of the city of Ione when it was filled to capacity about 20 years ago. Dave M
Cool, thanks for the additional info! D.O. Mills is a prominent name locally, I hear it periodically. Didn't know about the bank. And no, if anyone's wondering, I don't live at the prison Dave
