Scottishmoney
How is it that this piece escaped the Treasure Trove act? That would have effectively prevented it's private sale to any party, and it would have been received by a museum, such as the British Museum
gxseries
Geez... 1/3 of a million pounds... and not to forget that the British pounds are still very strong so... you can probably get a house in some country... :|
Michigan
How is it that this piece escaped the Treasure Trove act? That would have effectively prevented it's private sale to any party, and it would have been received by a museum, such as the British Museum This is only a guess since I don't know how the UK treasure trove law is worded. The person who found the coin came upon it while walking his dog along a river. (his story anyway). Since it was not a metal detector find or involved digging up the soil it might have slipped through as a technicality in getting around the treasure trove law (this is only a guess).
