ScottO
seems rather plain to me, not much around the edges, bet they will be rare though

ccg
I'm assuming that they're released ahead of time, just like some Canadian 2010 olympic themed 25c and $1 pieces dated as late as 2010 were available in 2007.
YeOldeCollector
You can buy them from the Royal Mint website, unfortunately... http://www.royalmint.com/store/BritishBase/LUK50PBP.aspx

Ætheling
It's a neat idea.. but it still makes you want to... That's just what I did. I was also gonna say the design looked like a 9 year old drew it, and then i read the blurb... The sad thing is it still looks better than that Jubilee 5 pound coin does and that was drawn by an adult! British coinage is becoming a joke... can't think why.
