gxseries
St Petersburg Mint has recently struck a commemorative 25 ruble coin (5 ounce silver) commemorating the Alexander Column. I have personally seen the column in real life and was simply awed over the beauty and the scale of the monument. This is one of the reason why I bought this commemorative ruble: There is one other commemorative coin that features the column: http://www.cbr.ru/eng/bank-notes_coins/Bas...t_num=5111-0043 Those who have never seen what the column is like, here are some decent photos on google: http://images.google.com.au/images?hl=en&a...le&resnum=4 Just amazing. Tane
Just amazing. I'm actually planning to buy the new coin - for exactly the same reasons you mentioned. I really like the Column and the Palace Square and can't get enough of them, even though I usually get to see them at least once a week. Especially on a nice sunny day the atmosphere over there is something special. It's just the price of the coin... Maybe I could survive a few months without eating?
