Constitutional status at time of issue; A republic under British suzerainty. Capital; Bloemfontein. Currency system; 12 Pence = 1 Shilling,20 Shillings = 1 Pond. The Orange Free State declared its postal notes to be legal tender as an emergency currency like the South African Republic's postal orders.
