Shops and Museums

I just got back yesterday from a nice vacation through the Canadian Rockies and the Alberta Praries. While I was in Edmonton seeing some friends, I visited their grandiose shopping mall. Inside the mall I happened upon a 'coin and stamp' shop and thought "why not?" and went inside. Much to my surprise, I found that they had paper money inside! So I started looking around and I was amazed to see that they had some pretty expensive stuff as well as some pretty common stuff too. I had just visited Lake Morraine a few days before, and here was the note depicting Lake Moraine, just like I wanted. As there are several signature combinations avaiable, with many of them more expensive than you'd expect, I was surprised to see that there was one in UNC for 70 dollars, which would have been a very decent price, even for the common issue. I decided to look around some more, and then finally decided not to get it as I didn't want to have it ruined on my trip. I probably should have got it, but I try not to make impulse purchases like that. Oh, well. I spent about an hour at the shop in two passes, and saw some stuff that I wish I was more prepared for. I did get some cash from an ATM and there were two crisp sequential 20's, but I let my wife have them as I've already got a nice example.

Later, while still in Edmonton, we sent to the Telus World of Science centre to see the exhibit on Leonardo DaVinci, which was cool. But they also had a weird exhibit on a dog napping case that they built a forensics exibit around. Part of it seemed a little off subject of the dog napping, but it was still okay as it dealt with counterfeit money. In itself, the counterfeit part, isn't something you should make a special trip to Edmonton to see, but if you're in Edmonton and happen to visit the science centre, then you can sound pretty smart in front of any friends you might have along, which doesn't happen to me very often - Ah, my moment of glory!

Anyway, I was just surprised to see some monetary related fun stuff while on vacation. I was focusing on the hiking, views and animals in the Rockies, then just with visiting friends, and all of a sudden, two paper money surprises! Well, all of a sudden doesn't apply when it happens twice I guess, but it was still a nice surprise.

Sounds like you had a great trip. It must have been nice to find such a great store and museum exhibit.
