Welcome aboard 'NSDAP42'. Nice selection of coins you presented :ninja: . I especially like that 50 Reichspfennig nickel coin. I'm not a specialist in the area of coins from the Third Reich, but here are a few rarities from my collection

These are rarer varieties from the Third Reich. Military issues are tough to find especially ones minted outside Berlin. Most of general issued zinc coins are quite common except for the ones dated 1945. This one posted is minted in Berlin.

for some odd reason i only have 1 of the zinc coins up. interesting point that all the zinc stuff was in countries under the control of the germans though (apart from in with other metals)

never seen the millitary issue before.. i'm still chasing those german WW1 cyrllic issues

Ohhhh military issue is a rare coin and very expensive , the 1945A too , only one negatif point , made of zinc ( bad metal ).

very nice and rare (Third Reich) coins you have :ninja:

Your right on both points. One the military issues are very difficult to come by (even the Berlin issues). Also zinc is a very unstable metal, and thus it's hard to find these coins in high grade. Although it might be getting slightly off the subject of this thread, here's an example of a high grade zinc coin. This is a 2 Kune coin dated 1941 from Croatia. It has some luster, but it may be difficult to tell from this image.

I also collect 3rd Reich coins. I have found that assembling a high quality set is quite a challenge. Here is one (PCGS PR65DCAM)

Here is another that I've been told is unique in Proof (PCGS PR67CAM)

Sweet looking specimens. I've never seen these in 'proof' before. They must have been hard to come by. Thanks for sharing these :ninja:.

Guess that some collectors of nazi coins, militaria etc. would really love to have coins with Hitler's portrait. Except there have never been any.

And somehow I doubt that the winning design of the 1941 competition would have looked like that. :ninja: This "prototype" that you posted - basically a medal - was made by Karl Goetz, I think. The designer who won the contest was Hermann (?) Müller-Erfurt, but I have never seen that design, and I doubt it was ever produced.

Your right. Hitler never had his portrait on any of the coins (none official anyway). I have a 1 Mark token with Hitler's profile, but this wasn't an official coin. Josef Stalin of the USSR was the same way in that he never had coins with his image on them. The one Koruna coin from Czechoslovakia in 1949 was the only coin that had Stalin's profile. It's amazing when you consider how ego-maniacal these leaders were that they didn't have their image on at least one coin during their rule.

i recovered some info about this COIN :ninja:

Actually, Goetz made a 5 Reichsmark Pattern in 1942 (K-659):

As quoted by Mr. Kurt Jaeger of Stuttgart, the eminent German numistmatist:

"...Quite different however, is the case of a Hitler pattern 5 Reichsmark of 1942, Mintmark A, copper, silver-plated, which was struck in normal size and with the customery edge engraving of the German 5 Reichsmark pieces in Berlin after a design by the medalist Goetz.

One piece was presented to Hitler in his headquarters Wolfschanze by the Director of the Monetary System in 1942, Herr v.P. As the widow of Herr v. P. vouches, Hitler said about the presentation that his head should appear on the German coins after the final victory. This pattern is still in existence today in the above mentioned hands.

A total of 4 pieces were struck...."
