Rare German Porcelain medal

Recommended Posts

Following an old German tradition I have just managed for an international energy conference on clean coal technologies to distribute to the participants of this conference a porcelain medal made in the famous manufactory of Meissen.

The conference was held from 18th - 21st May 2009 in Dresden. The conference organisers are mentioned on the presentation cartridge, which can be seen on the second picture below. The cultural highlight of the conference was a concert by trumpet and pipe organ in the Frauenkirche of Dresden.

Therefore the porcelain conference medal shows on the front the Frauenkirche of Dresden.

As most of the porcelain medals are distributed to the participants, only a few copies are still available. There is one copy offered by myself in the German eBay:

I LOVE those old porcelain medals made by Meissen...this one is very nice as well...

Note...Meissen trademark (cross swords) is the oldest trademark still in use.

The Frauenkirche in Dresden will be visited today by President Obama and Chancellor Merkel.

I hope they will have a comparable impression of the Frauenkirche we received on 18th May 2009 during the concert.

More Information about the Frauenkirche and the reconstruction work you can find on:
