mukoh
Looked at this fine sample http://cgi.ebay.com/Russia-1-Rouble-1839-s...3%3A13|294%3A50 To me the rays above the head do not look right especially below the B. Can anyone concur?
Vfox
It's a difficult coin to tell, but I would never buy a pricey coin outside of my own country (the US in my case). Estonia is like buying from Israel, Pakistan, India, China, or the Philippines in my opinion...just not the best idea. At anyrate here is a real one to compare it to, the eBay coin looks pretty good, but to me the color of the metal and the reflectivity is off, either cleaned, or the wrong metal. http://www.russianarsenal.com/popup_add_im...hp?imagesID=320 Someone will likely be on that is more familiar with these, but I would suggest staying away. Here is another coin from the same seller, this one looks fake to me as well. http://cgi.ebay.com/Russia-1-Rouble-1883-s...%3A1%7C294%3A50

Can anyone concur? I have compared the dies to specimens in my database and I see no problems on either obverse or reverse. The bust of the Emperor appears to match in every respect, which is where most hand-made dies fail. The odd look may simply be due to the coin being polished or the photographic technique. This does not mean that the coin is genuine, only that it appears to be so. RWJ

one-kuna
And that coin sells for $835? Geez. very well done modern fake can be russian origin... buyer looks for a cheap price first, not thinking about a coin as genuine... simple comparation with a genuine piece shows a difference immediately.... feel sorry for a winner, unless it is shiel bidding ...
