remember those pennys i got above?

i got these 2.. that tbh reqire a bit more diggin, it appears on ebay that an 1861 8 over 6 penny has turned up.. and you know what, it looks practially identical to one of my "scrap buns" i got for some research (i like bun pennys i can look for dies on)

here is ebay link

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...%3D1&_rdc=1

984446.jpg

take note of what i mean, the exact date spread (narrow spread, with a slightly slanted 8 and last one is slightly lower) the date part is the most exciting part as they were hand cut onto dies, so die matchups.. dont matter, date spread matchups have some weight. now there is a differance between that 8 and the 8 on mine BUT if you didn't see the zoomed date picture on the ebay photo.

now on photo of mine you can't see the small oddity next to the first 1 (shows on ebay one ) and a small lighter area inside the 8 is visible, but to the eye i can see a strangle thing next to the first 1 and nothing in the 8 so. perhaps something to investigate further afterall.

984447.jpg

furthermore, i have no idea what to make of this.. i have 1863's in various grades so i usualy would ignore this date (no die varietys etc) except for the listed die numbers, open 3's and slender 3's, so there was a reason i got this one... the 3 was something i have never seen before and was worth the small purchase cost just to have a proper look at the 3. which i thought was an open 3, it shows signs of open 3 (middle part of 3 pointing at centre of 6) but the examples i have seen look very close to an oridinary 3 (downward serif on the top of the 3) a slight curve upwards ith the bottom, this has niether, it could be wear but i have an example of an 1863 where the downward serif is nothing more then a thin slightly lower relief blob, so i checked out slender 3.. but i couldn't get a proper look at the 3, it definatly looks differant from normal 3's on the picture but i cant see if it has serif (i think it does) and it curves up more.

984447.jpg

anyway, help on this one appreciated, i dont think it is a slender 3 but an open 3 is a maybe

got some coins this week, got plenty, i'll show a select 2 for now, plenty more to come

1911 halfpenny for £2

not usualy something i dip into are halfpennys, but with pennys way up in price and farthings easy to get, saw this in a bunch of bags at my dealers (i usualy look through for stuff not put out,) found it in a bag, again halfpennys not normally something i go for, but a very nice example for 1911, hard to grade exactly due to striking weakness, but full lustre for £2.

985417.jpg

i saw this 10 franc on the table the dealer has, having found a 1958 on there for 10p a few months previous (and thats wen i found the 1958 50 franc in the 10p tin) i asked if it was 10p... found out it was a key date off him, he looked it up... then let me have it for £4, bit of a surprise really, due to the 1958's, but 2.2 million mintage its by no means as rare as the 50 franc from 1958 i own, but its by far THE key date in this denomination and i got it for the F price in krause, which of course imo undervalues these coins when in europe (due to ease of access to france, ebay etc)

985660.jpg

finally got my coins up i bought the other week

i got a couple of other nice bits that seem to have dissapeared (damned small french coins :() they will turn up in due time

sorry bout some being dark, it was evening so light was fading, got the good ones done first though.

quite pleased with the dupuis pieces, i did spend a bit more but been after these pieces in high grade for a good while, and they wern't stupid money (in fact they were cheap)

but first, i found anice bargain on ebay, i found a listing for 5 H coins, spotted a viccy bun and had a look (not all viccy H coins are worth it in low grade 1976 and 1882 for example) was surpised to see it was 1875 H a very hard coin to get at any point (752,640 minted, and then some were worn to discs some were melted down so the existance rate is lower)

986187.jpg

add this onto the fact i got a good £2-3 value in the 1912h and the one 1918 H penny in there, thats all i spent.. £2-3 only. not the first time i have found a rare worn bun on ebay like this and hopefully wont be the last.

no real point in showing the others, they are like most of the others.

i'll show the rest later, once i got them all uploaded as i found som interesting buts in the bags and theygot mixed up amongst some of the 10p's when i was taking photos

but for now

my 60p pieces

986189.jpg

986190.jpg

986191.jpg

986192.jpg

and one of the decent 10p

986193.jpg

how about this for 50p. the plancet does thin out where the wear is so probably an error rather then wear.

986196.jpg

i spent £1.50 on this massive worn piece of metal known as a 1792 2 sols, looking at it further (researching) it turns out that there were 2 types where legend ends with FRANÇAIS and one with FRANÇOIS, looking at both types this is the FRANÇAIS type strasbourg mint.

986197.jpg

another 50p buy, madras 10 cash minted by east india company

986203.jpg

still more to come

Yeah, that and the ten centime looks nice too. But man, every time I see Channel Islands coinage, I have to talk myself out of getting involved in those. XD
