Thanks for these links. They are very informative. I never realized how broad the Chinese counterfeiting business really was. The one on the NGC warning is especially disturbing. It would be impossible to tell the fakes with the untrained eye (like mine). The public announcements are informative, however they could end up being a double edged sword. While it might help honest people to avoid buying bogus slabbed coins, it could also help counterfeiters to improve the quality of their fake products thus making them even harder to tell apart from the genuine articles. I guess there are no easy solutions to this growing problem :ninja: .

In China, the law is to allow the production of counterfeit coin..

ha~~ :ninja:

A perfect example of the mentality that produces counterfeits. It clearly does not disturb

iyaomoney168 that innocent collectors will be cheated for decades by the fakes coming

out of China. And, just for the record, there are no “laws” in China, merely edicts from the

Chinese dictatorship and their rubber-stamp Congress.

The Chinese government could issue an edict tomorrow that all counterfeiters would go

to jail for life. I wonder how amusing that would be to iyaomoney168?

If one was bothered by such concerns, then one would need to find an honest way to make a living. :ninja:

Not everyone sees that as admirable or as a reason to celebrate. :ninja:

Jokers like this always find it funny until they get screwed over themselves. I wonder how funny they think this would be then? ;) China is going to end up sinking their own ship eventually, if the government doesn't get their act together. I doubt anyone over there would find that amusing or a cause for celebration. I for one would never buy coins or notes from China for this reason alone. I feel sorry for any honest dealers that may be in China, because the counterfeiters are ruining their image as well. This is just my opinion though.

Even the silver romanian coins from late XIX century are counterfeited in China: http://transylvanian-numismatics.com/phpBB...opic.php?t=4078

These have the word "copy" countermarked, but exists and without countermark.
