bill Posted March 28, 2009 Report Share Posted March 28, 2009 One of my purchases from the ANA Money Show, just because I liked it. The piece is 43mm, dark porcelain made by Meissen Porcelain. I believe the piece is modern (i.e. last 20 years). I can't identify the artist's mark at the bottom of the obverse, but I will sort it out one day. If anyone knows anymore about the piece, let me know. In any event, the Dresden Zoo is known for its orangutans and this medal captures the tranquility of a family group. I fell in love the moment I saw it. Its one of those "examples of the range of the medallic arts" buys that lets me collect anything that catches my eye.
