New spreadsheet

I have developed a spreadsheet that is only compatible with iWork which does no good to Excel users. It has checkboxes in cells that allow each sheet to act as a checklist. I have been trying to add checkboxes in excel but they to not function the same way as in iWork. So, if there is sufficient interest, please show by responding, I will turn each checkbox cell to a quantity cell in excel ( say that 5 times fast). I will also add some functions for summing up different quantities by year/mint/total/ect... I have a sheet for every US minted coin including the two mints that only minted in gold in NC and GA as well as West point and CC and O. I used the coin community's coin facts page as my benchmark and every coin listed there is on a sheet. I added the Native American Dollar as well as presidential dollar and first spouse coins. If there is enough interest I will develop these.

I attached a picture of my buffalo nickel checklist for a visual.

Think of this. Probably the majority of people on Earth have computers that have Windows and Microsoft Office. Office contains Excel. So you now have a FREEEEEE program to use anyway you want. Next is if you use Excel, you can download different information of just stuff onto a flash drive, take it with you anywhere, plug that flashdrive into a computer and POOOF, there is your information.

Probably 99.999999% of the people on Earth would not allow you to put any programs on their computers. However, Excel is probably there now.

Of course in China you may have a problem reading your files. :ninja:;)

Thanks Carl for your input. However, I fail to understand your logic. You say I want to put programs on peoples computers, what I have put together is just a collection of spreadsheets. I have done a lot of typing and organizing that perhaps someone may appreciate and wish to use. How many graphical and interactive ways are there to look at the entire US mint's past present and future that is readable and writable by the program that 99.9999999% of people probably have. I am sure there are many people that prefer to make their own spreadsheets. If you were to look at everyone's personal spreadsheet you would begin to see a trend in how they are organized. I have aimed to capture the trend of what people would put on one if they made one. If you want to spend hours putting a spreadsheet together, go for it. If you want one already done, probably the way you would organize it, then please respond.

I do realize what your trying to accomplish. However, most people are just people that use what is available. The main thing I was trying to state is if you do use Excel, you can see your work on most computers everywhere. Excel is almost everywhere. If you make your own types, buy special programs, etc. they may or more than likely are not usable on other computers. And that is one of the main reasons most people use Excel. And they do not have to invent a spread sheet. Just make your own headings. Another thing about Excel is how many people know how to use it. If you have a problem, you can ask many, many people and some will know. Maybe all would know. If you invent a program, buy a program or just invent your own spreadsheets and something goes wrong, who do you call? I've known many people that have purchased coin type programs and eventually most have gone back to excel.

I use a mac, so unfortunately that program wont run on my computer. Carl, perhaps I failed in explaining that the program I made the spreadsheets in is nearly identical to excel. In excel I cannot make check boxes, if I open them up in excel the checkboxes show up as TURE or FALSE depending on if the box is checked. I can change the formatting to just allow quantities. So there you would have it in Excel, fully compatible as it would be re-created in excel. So if you use excel you would have quantities, if you use iWork's numbers you would have checkboxes or quantities... You choose
