canada777777
Hi there, I recently recieved a 1900 gold liberty head quarter eagle. I know very little about coins. I've googled some info and am looking to sell it. However, I see different prices all over. I want a fair price and do not want to be ripped off. What type of price should I be looking for for this coin. Thanks in advance.
De Orc
Hi welcome to the forum I cant tell you what price to go for but I can sugest that you put up a pic or scan of both sides of the coin so that the guy's who do have some idea will be able to asses the grade of the coin. You see without a picture (as clear as possible) it would be a bit like me telling you that I have a Corvette for sale but with no details and asking you what you think it is worth

canada777777
Here are some pics. Let me know what you think. The casing comes off, I just have to find a tiny screwdriver. You might have to copy and paste these into your web browser Thanks http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3530/322983...e1326ed.jpg?v=0 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3534/322983...6ab5b79.jpg?v=0 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3118/322983...f2536d5.jpg?v=0 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3407/322898...38c536d.jpg?v=
jtryka
Melt is about $110, being that is was in jewelry diminishes the value considerably as a collector coin, though you might get $150 for it, hard to say. If it was uncirculated and not in jewelry, it might go for $250-300.
canada777777
What if the casing is taken off? I would have thought the casing protected it, rather then devalued it. Interesting.
Mark Stilson
Jeff is on the money for completed sales of jewelry 2.5$ coins listed on ebay. The jewelry case since it is screwed on may not have damaged it. Take it off carefully and check for damage. Also look for fine hair line scratches. Being jewelry it probably has been cleaned. (Which can keep the price down. ) If it has neither then you may be in luck. Looking on ebay completed sales there was a group of 5 quarter eagles that were ex-jewelry (And you could tell it.) that the seller could not sell at 149 each. (Total 750 for all 5.) But Decent grade or wear ones ran from 187 to 290 (Mint state 60 and up.) .
