You know, I don't think I've seen many, if any, Dutch coins from that era during my time on CP. Thanks for sharing, maybe I'll start seeing some circulation coins from then and there.

The Lion holds 7 arrows, representing the 7 Provinces, but just one sword to attack their enemies.

 

 

In April 1747 the French army entered Flanders. In an effort to quell internal strife amongst the various factions, the States-General of the Netherlands appointed William to the hereditary position of General Stadtholder of all seven of the United Provinces.
