Art
The bill still hasn't been signed - I think. But an interesting item that it calls for is a quarter investment coin in the design of each of the National Parks quarters that will be 3 inches in diameter and contain 5 ozs of silver. These will be offered only during the year in which the actual quarter is issued. per CoinWorld Dec 29,2008
thedeadpoint
I'm sorry, a 5 ounce coin is not a coin.

As for when the bill was signed, see here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/20...20081223-2.html Christian
Art
Thanks for the update Christian. So the bill has been signed. Can't wait for the National Parks quarters to begin. The 5ozers will probably not be something I bother with. I can get 5 oz of silver a lot cheaper on the open market or at the flea market.
Mortyr2012
I am glad that they won't start with a regular design in 2010.. especially the last designs of the State Quarters and the upcoming Quarters in 2009 are great in my opinion and I really hope that the National Parks Quarters will also show great designs.. Nightwing
I am glad we will have another program. I have to admit I was not looking forward to seeing the quarter go back to a standard reverse. Even if the new program is only as half as successful as the state quarter program there should still be plenty of coins around for people to collect. crystalk64
Anything would be better than the current round of dead politicians. It is as if Congress is afraid we might forget one of them? And, quite frankly, most are not worth remembering! The dollar program is already a bust with some of the most boring designs (portraits) I have ever seen. Nothing more than re-sculpted Mint medallions. The only bright spot in the dollar program is the fact they are changing the reverse each year, from here on out, on the Sacagawea dollar. I can't cast my opinion on the National Parks quarters but do hope someone at the mint can think outside of the box with these designs.
Kristofer
I always frown at the premiums they place on some of these coins. I hope they're fairly reasonable with the pricing. But hope rings eternal.
Coinjoe2006
I think its getting kind of cheesey now. I'm thinking that after the territory quarters they should just use a single redisgn of the quarter and let it be for a while. Its been 11 years since we have had a single quarter. Put it on a dime or something!
