Recommended Posts

Hi there I have just been out detecting and found 3 hammered coins in my local area in Northumberland and i am having trouble identifying the mint on this Scottish hammered

It is a Alexander III S 5044 type IV with molded bust and tall fleured crown with large jewels .. But on the reverse i am having difficulties as i have never seen one with ON / ON .. my guess is it says JH / ON . but i cannot find any Johns listed only Ion and Iohan .. so any help so i can catalogue it correctly will be very welcome

all the best dooly
