Possible counterfeit – 1724 St. Petersburg Rouble

The following piece is suspicious:

It appears to have been deliberately mishandled. Because of the damage, it

is not possible to be certain, but the obverse die does seem to be the same

as on the fake illustrated on page 13 of RNS Newsletter 18 (fall 2006).

 

The seller of this piece has a feedback of 4, all for purchases having nothing

to do with Russian numismatics.

and I think the text offering the historical context is also to divert suspicion away from the coin. Anyone that knows what this coin is will also know that history.
