marv
I have been considering putting a proof 1910 rouble into an Air-Tite holder, but I cannot find the dimension of the diameter of the rouble anywhere. I find weight, purity, etc., but no coin dimensions. I would guess that by 1910, dimensional tolerances were pretty consistent, so it should be easy to find the diameter. Anyone know the correct air-tite, with ring, for a 1910 silver rouble? Thanks, Marv Finnley
gxseries
Marv, this site maybe useful: http://www.jpscorner.com/Ring_Gauge.htm You might want to print the pdf file and check it with other common coins to see if the dimension is right. I thought I had the ruble dimension somewhere but I can't find it at the moment. Edit, Uzdenikov has it at 33.5mm for rubles struck in 1886-1915, thickness 2.6mm. This is from another book of his, titled as "Moneti Rossii, XVIII - nachala XX veka, Ocheriki po numizmatike", printed in Moscow 2000.
squirrel
Hi Marv.. Bitkin lists diameters of all coins. Rubles of Nicholas II are all 33.65mm
marv
Thanks all. Another reason to buy Bitkin. The only Uzdenikov I have, the Russian/English version, does not list diameters, or I wasn't able to find them after several exhaustive attempts.
