corkykile
Hi all you good coin people. This is the final results from my first ever submission to PCGS. I found this coin in a search of a bag 5,000 wheat cents. Official designation: PCGS XF-40 BN No D Die Pair 2 Strong Reverse corky
thedeadpoint
Jeez, that really is one strong reverse! I'm surprised you haven't changed your avatar image yet. Maybe a macro pic (zoom in) of the date w/o a mint mark.
jtryka
Wow, in a bag of wheats!
corkykile
(((w/o a mint mark))). Okay deadpoint, you got it. But I swear the coin in this picture looks much nicer than the one I sent to the dealer to submit... Guess I just don't remember it very well. corky
corkykile
Wow, in a bag of wheats! Yep, and 5,000 count bag of wheats. I also found a big handful of error coins and quite a few rpm varieties. It has been quite and adventure and I would do it again at the drop of a hat. corky

numismatic nut
Don't the 5,000+ bags go for $500ish apice?
Brett
A 5,000 count bag can go from around $180 up to whatever someone is willing to pay.

thedeadpoint
where does one buy a 5,000 coin bag?
just carl
Really a fantastic find. However, please note that as a rule probably 99% of all such bags have been searched and researched many times. You just ran into one that someone just didn't really search. Again, fantastic find. A minimum of a $2,000 to $3,000 find.
corkykile
THANK YOU EVERYONE>>> Hey Numismatic Nut: I have seen them go for 500$ or so. This one was close to 300$. Hey deadpoint... if I told you I might be in big trouble. (I wanted to say 'if I told you I'd have to kill you'... but I thought that might be taken the wrong way). Thanks TommyD... it was quite an adventure. Wait until I post about the second bag I bought... teehee. Yes Brett... but it was worth every cent I spent on it. I am still working on some of the later coins. I also got a couple of prime 1909vdbs, a couple of 12D's (not great, but fully readable), and other coins that the seller happened to toss in for fun. Hey Carl... yes for the most part they are pre-searched, but the last time before me might have been awhile back. Fortunately whomever did the searching missed that gem, who knows how many times. I think this person just gathers up coins from storage lockers, estates, etc., and when they get enough to sell several lots then it is everyman/woman for themselves. So much fun and so little time... corky
