Johnny 1989
I've kind of been out of the loop when it comes to collecting banknotes over the last 6-8 months, so much so infact that my collection needs beefing up. As i already mentioned in the Brazil Banknotes thread I have some more of those on the way & the 200cr. double head not was one of my recent purchase. I thought I'd show you some more of my recent purchases from around the world. Two ancient notes, one from Germany (that's nearly A5 sized) and a colourful Russian Banknote from 1905. Got the German note for no other reason but it's unusual size. The USSR note I rather liked the design & colours of. First one is a lovely ROI £1 note, perhaps my favourite series of ROI notes and the first one I have from this series, however from what I understand notes from this series are rather costly & rare as well (or am I thinking incorrectly?) The next one is a Burmese note which I bought for the simple reason that the text on it was rather unusual, no other reason really. The last one is another lovely USSR note, and my favourite design of theirs, the ones that contain Lenin seem to be rather striking and full of colour Next a collection of notes from a little, unofficial, breakaway country known as Transnistria. The bottom note seems to be a revaluation of the 1 ruble note to 10000 rublei, oddly enough it had both 1994 & 1996 on the note so I imagine that they must of just printed the 1r notes a normal in 1996 then restamped them with the 10000r over the top
Johnny 1989
My last lot are from Zaire, formerly known as the Belgian Congo and since 1997 known as the Democratic Republic Of Congo, Zaire was mostly ruled by Motubu throughout it's history. As usual with certain "one-man rule" countries Motubu's face is quite predominant on the banknotes, in fact not only does his portrait appear on the front it is also in the watermark for most notes as well. first set here is of 1, 5, 10 & 20 NK banknotes, known as Nouveaux Makuta's with the exception of the 1 NK which is known as Nouveau Likuta all dated 24/6/93. Oddly enough along with these notes there was also: These notes, I take it the first lot are less than 100NK, again all dated 24/6/93, with the exception of the 5000NZ which is dated 30/1/1995 and doesn't have a fancy design on the back like the rest. I hope to get more of these, especially the 80's designs & higher valued ones. Anyone else like these notes (Zaire notes & ones above)
De Orc
Once again LOL it's me, I also have those notes and a few more upto date ones from Transnistria (but Mrs Orc wont let me have them till Xmas) The African notes on a whole have some great designs very influenced by French banknotes in a lot of cases other obviouse influences are Belgium and to a lesser extent the UK. If you look round the ex USSR countries you can find some realy lovely notes as well

Dave M
I really like that Irish note with the writing on it, quite nice. According to Pick, the Zaire notes are printed in Germany. Dave

Dave Yeah what I've seen of the series are lovely, but they seem to be very expensive Thanks for the info on the Zaire Notes, I did wonder where they were printed. Johnny 1989
Haven't got round to scanning the remained of that 115 batch I got recently however managed to scan soem I bought in Leicester Square (London) today First off two Russian Notes: I couldn't believe the size of this thing when I first saw it, not only that the woman behind th ecounter said "has it been cut? oh no it hasn't" & unfolded even more of it. I love the design although I need to get a page for big notes now I love old Russian notes, got this one for cheap & a rather lovely colour design IMHO I got about 21 Yugoslavian notes in this design recently but not this particular one. Does anyone know what values were released in this style? Some Zimbabwian notes before the Bearers Cheques. Interestingly the latter $500 note doesn't have the holographic strip. Johnny 1989
Next lot were a set of six, one from each "Facist Dictator", don't know who each one is though unfortunately: China, Uganda & Iraq Turkmenistan, Iran & North Korea (?) To go with the Zairen notes, perhaps we should open a seperate thread for "Facist Dictator" notes? Have to say I'm really suprised Mugabe didn't put his mug on the Zimbabwian notes TBH I should really update my Banknote Bank page

Johnny 1989
Three more notes: Bank Of China $20 from 1996 Scotland - British Linen Bank £1 Note Theresienstadt (Chezhoslovakia) 10 Kronen Images Added to my Banknote Bank Collection EDIT - I have decided to just advise you Ladies & Gents of what I have added to my banknote bank collection instead, to be honest the images seem to be really slowing this thread down so I have decided just to notify you in list format. These will usually be the top images of the update, however in the case of these three they won't be as other notes added to this thread previously are also been added to my collection (at last)
