1760 denga from Long Beach

I just came back from the Long Beach Coin Show. Not much to be found at the tables.

I did buy this nice denga though. No big deal, but I really like the color and the condition.

Very attractive and difficult to improve upon. Congratulations! :ninja:

I would grade choice VF, anybody have different opinion?

I agree, but I've never seen them better than VF in dengas.

Here is 2 kopeks coin that looks "slightly better".

I doubt that anyone else has either. I know I certainly haven't.

With all due respect, I don't see much point in talking about grades for coins like these. If the coin is the best you've seen in 30 years of specialized collecting, then it is still the best you've ever seen. No matter what anyone chooses to call it, it is what it is, a superior and very desirable example. ;)

Wow!

 

All three coins are exceptionally lovely examples of their type. I especially like the Baroque kopek overstruck on the krestovik. :ninja:

 

I have a decent example of that type, almost, but not quite, so nice as yours.
