Strange how the machines give them out as change but won't take them...same thing with Canadian coins.

 

Probably because it doesn't use a "4-2" (?) changer. Ie. the coins taken in go to a collection at the bottom, and the coins dispensed in changed are from a different source.

Gadzooks!  The last time I got a silver quarter in change it was 1995!  Though today I got a Kansas quarter and a 1957 nickel in change from lunch.

 

 

A co-worker of mine went to New York for a week vacation over the summer. He received a 1944 quarter in change!

a few went into my own collection (some greece ones, and one Belgium € 2.00 commem, the rest are kept for trading purposes (Bobby ;))

well, had to sort and count over 10,000 coins, so the odds are there is some intersting stuff in it. I didn't expect the 2 euro commemcs tho...
