Scottishmoney
Yeah, the obverse is two years out of date for the reverse, but... wouldn't it be neat if it was a "Mule"
LostDutchman
another word comes to mind besides "mule"... hahaha rhymes with "bounterfeit"... hahaha and from looking harder I believe they both are...

thedeadpoint
Can you guys give me the diagnostics on how these are "bounterfeits?" I know you mentioned the designs don't fit the dates but I don't have my redbook near me to see what you mean.
LostDutchman
the $1 had me fooled for a day... It should be either the type I which is smaller and has a different head or the type II which had a similar design to this one but the bust is smaller. This coin simply has the wrong obverse. The III is a pretty good counterfeit. The main thing I found with this one after having some time to really look at it was its lack of detail. The coin is just soft.... not enough details in the nooks and cranny's...
Vfox
Are you certain of their gold alloy? I've heard of gold plated brass being passed as the real deal on Mexican coins lately.
