STEVE MOULDING
Yesterday I am new in collecting russian coins and not really sure what type of coins should i invest in. Perhaps I can get advice on that from experienced collector.I want to invest 1000-1500$ on rare coin that will always be on demand. Any suggestions what (russian coin(s)) I can buy for this amount of money? Today No, the seller is misleading you:-) I've got 2 of those:-)
BKB
Very strange, indeed. But, maybe, he does not think of 10 rubles of Nicholas as coins -- just bullion. (I would ageee :-) )

Oldman
No, the seller is misleading you:-) I've got 2 of those:-) So, they are really regular ? Looks like Mr Kazakov is wrong, then, in his assumptions. Never before have I checked the rim of 10 roubles of Russia . Now, I believe , it is time to start
bobh
http://cgi.ebay.com/GOLD-RUSSIA-10-ROUBLES...1QQcmdZViewItem They are somewhat scarce, but not what i would call rare. 1901-AP five roubles is much rarer. There was a study published by the JRNS some years ago ... RW Julian can perhaps fill in the details, since I do not own that particular back issue. Never before have I checked the rim of 10 roubles of Russia . Now, I believe , it is time to start I certainly don't think 1901-AP is rarer than 1909-EB ... in this case, I too think Mr. Kazakov must be wrong. In general, any coins of 1901-AP are scarce (roubles, poltinas, etc.) For some reason, the ten roubles 1901-AP is probably the least scarce of these. Loyal Citizen
No, the seller is misleading you:-) I've got 2 of those:-) Dear orest, I am the seller of this coin on EBay and I do not think your accusation is valid. First of all, I am not trying to mislead you. The statements placed in the posting are based on the work of Mr. Kazakov. In my mind, this is the best work on the coins of Nicholas II. Second, you need to really decide who you are : a novice or a person who "has been there , done that". After this decision is made, your messages will be more acceptable. I do not have the Kazakov work but it has been my experience that the 1901 AP ten roubles is rare but that the 1909 is even more difficult to obtain. The only two gold 10 rouble dates of Nicholas II that are relatively easy to obtain are 1899 and 1911. This is based on coins that appeared on eBay or were in the weekly Conros auctions. RWJ I am really surprised that 1910 is not mentioned in this thread. Based on the above mentioned work of Mr. Kazakov , 1910 10 roubles is the toughest gold 10 rouble coin of Nicholas II (of course, after 1906) . I am selling one on Ebay now and was surprised with the attention the coin got. Regards, Alex

Regards, Alex Of course, 1910 is a semi-key date and very scarce. I mentioned 1909 because Kazakov lists that date as being more common than 1901-AP, which I'm sure most would agree that it isn't. He lists it right before 1911, which is not rare at all.
