Ships make a nice theme collection. There are quite a few ship series that have been issued in NCLT in recent years but it is also a great theme on circulating coins going back to Ancients.

Quite a few in NCLT, some rather lovely ones as well in circulated condition :ninja: I just need to win the lottery so I can buy everything I want LOL

Well, I can't but add some of my own :ninja: This one has not one but two ships on one coin. 1963 Israel 5 lirot (pounds) one of the early commemorative; Sylvia Haffner desribes the obverse as smokestack of a [then] modern steamer against a background of Haifa and Mount Carmel (which to tell you the truth it does nor resemble) and reverse as an ancient vessel modeled after the incused drawing found on the wall of Hasmonean era tomb in Jerusalem. Oh, and it is a proof variety with MEM mark at the bottom of obverse

Believe it or not but this one in just extra fine costs a lot more than the previous :ninja: Actually quite typical of the earlier South African bronze circulation - 1926 penny.

As for the condition - I bought it as extra fine but it is not quite EF by the close inspection although reverse is truly very very nice.

Great ship coins Sandy. I think I have a few in my collection of Canadian and UK coins. I'll check over the weekend and photograph a few if I'm correct.
