NumisMattic2200
So, I bought my first greek coin on the weekend - this one's a tiny silver coin from Apolonia Pontika. Obverse is a humane (?) version of the Gorgon and the reverse (what I assume is that) depicts the upside-down anchor as greeks would have pictured it hanging on its hook on board a fishing vessel, the crayfish and the letter Alpha, which is the mintmark. Anyone who can further explicate this coin would be very welcome to. The first thing that struck me when I received this coin was the small size of the piece, as is illustrated by the last pic. Is this real????? Opinions/ thoughts

KoRnholio
http://rg.ancients.info/bulgarian_school/forgeries.html " Though there aren't universal diagnostics for these fakes, there are indications, according to Robert Kokotailo, owner of Calgary Coin & Antique and moderator of the Ancient Coin Forgery Discussion List, the observations of others, and my own observations:" I live just a few hours from there, I have been eyeing his website for months now and there are some amazing ancient coins there. I can't wait to scratch together enough cash to make a trip to his shop
