Blackhawk
Was there a Soviet 5 kopek proof made in 1978? I've got a piece that has quite reflective surfaces and was wondering if it could be an impaired proof or just an early strike on new dies. gxseries
I asked a similar question some time ago: http://www.coinpeople.com/index.php?showto...490&hl=1978 Now I find it quite difficult to believe if that's just proof-like - it's highly reflective in my opinion but I guess that's how it is. NGC did grade some coins as PROOF but there are never any references of this era suggesting that any coins other than latter commemorative coins are struck in proof. But then, quite a fair amount the so called soviet "proof" coins would be considered as DCAM under US grading standards.
