Johnny 1989
The new Britannia has been released: http://www.royalmint.com/PackedSets/BR08AG.aspx What do you think? I rather like it, it's a modern design with a classic touch, not as good as last years but still a very nice coin IMHO

Art
I like the Britannias. They'd make a very nice collection. Maybe when my ASE set is complete.
Delta
I like the coin design, however I don't really see the appeal of coins that where never intended to circulate. Maybe its just me Would like to get my hands on some silver though Oh, and the Royal Mint has yet to send me my 2007 crowns It's been forever! Got my other stuff two weeks ago! Give them a chase if you can, I'm still waiting for a book from Waterstones from November 2007! They have had to order it in specially, I think I may cancel the order just incase the money come sout at the wrong time!
TomD
IMHO, the 2008 is a dramatic drop in visual appeal and detailing from previous versions. I've several copies from each year and have been keeping photos of each. Here's the 2005, the 2008 is almost a cartoon compared.

Delta
Two pounds?! is this therefore considered legal tender?
Scottishmoney
Two pounds?! is this therefore considered legal tender? I will accept them at a rate of £10 per coin in payment of any debts.
hairytoe
I got myself this coin. I noticed that a few people posted a link to the royal mint website. I got mine from westminster collection When I got it, i also got a presentation box which is a really nice touch. Sorry if you already know about this site etc. Karl
NumisMattic2200
It's just dawned on me how weird it is to have a coin whose silver content outweighs its nominal value. Looks like the lighthouse is back again in the background.
UncleBobo
2008 is very good but not quite as good as 2007. 2005 was my favorite year.
henare
IMHO, the 2008 is a dramatic drop in visual appeal and detailing from previous versions. I've several copies from each year and have been keeping photos of each. Here's the 2005, the 2008 is almost a cartoon compared. they each have their appeal. the 2008 design, imho, more closely resembles a corporate logo ... not unattractive, but not what i expect on a coin. TomD
The 2003 is definitely my favorite.
bill
I like the concept, but the relief is too flat in my opinion to make it work well. It is not intended to circulate, so why not invest in the relief and "finish" the design. (It was not my intention to make a pub. The Finnish coins with low relief feature fantastic designs that make use of the low relief. This design, on the other hand, suggests relief where there is none and it suffers in my opinion.) I guess they had to save the extra medal to strike up the queen's portrait on the obverse.
kopeckhunter
I like the 2008 coin but the detail is lacking compared to previous years. 2003 is my favourite, it's just so awesome.
