christie
I have a 1982-P non-reeded dime. Has anyone ever heard of this? Rare?? It appears to be perfectly round, and I do not think that it has been milled off. Does anyone know what it would look like if it was professionally milled off? I did not purchase this, I found it in my loose change. I'm going to send it for grading and cert. ,I thought I'd just ask the experts. Thanks for any help you can offer!!!!!! LostDutchman
sometimes dimes are struck outside of the collar (this puts the reeding on the coin) these are called broadstrikes and are very common... on dimes they are worth $5-$
christie
sometimes dimes are struck outside of the collar (this puts the reeding on the coin) these are called broadstrikes and are very common... on dimes they are worth $5-$25 I looked at the photos of which you are referring and this is definitely not the same. My dime looks exactly like a regular dime, only the edge is smooth.
LostDutchman
well thats the only way that that can happen from the mint... if it doesn't look like that or something similar then its not gonna be an error from the mint... prob been milled off like you thought. pictures would solve it for certain tho. thedeadpoint
Just a guess, but could the collar reeds wear to the point where they are too difficult to see?
thedeadpoint
Just a guess, but could the collar reeds wear to the point where they are too difficult to see? Kinda like really late die stage strikes

coppercoins
Umm....wear from a vending machine? That's what coins like this are. The reeds simply wear off the coin. What's this about collars being set too high? Where'd that come from?
