Kristofer
It's nothing fantastic, but anything is better than nothing. I was walking past a co workers desk and I saw he had three pennies in a tray, I saw one and it had wheat on the back. I asked if I could have it, he said "definitly" It's a 1957 D but I'll take it! slowly but surely
I found one like that in a take a "penny" leave a "penny". I took a wheatie from the take a penny leave a penny tray recently too. Sure felt weird to finish my transaction and then bust out with a "Pardon me, but I would like to take that particular penny." The things we do for our hobby!
bill
My find came in change a few years ago during coin week. The local coin club salted some old coins in circulation to spark interest. I received a 43 steel cent in place of a dime in change (it was reprocessed, but still a nice looking coin). I spotted it as the teller was counting out the change. I didn't say anything and the teller genuinely thought she gave me a dime. I was amazed at how little attention they paid to the change.

Even if they were paying attention they'd say "Okay, it's a penny made out of different metal, here's a nickel and 4 other normal pennies." then roll their eyes at you for being so weird.
