OK, here I go again! :ninja:

pennies = 1173 low

nickels = 379 high

dimes =678 high

quarters =335 high

halves = 0 correct

dollars = 9 low

That's 2574 coins with a face value of $191.23.

The first answer I came up with based off of the "high" and "low" clues you left before.

Congratulations, George!

Wow, Doc...ELEVEN dollar coins!?! Is that some kind of record for you?

That was definitely the kicker. The dollar coins. Really? I'd figure you'd be so excited finding one that you'd mention it in a thread somewhere. What kind of dollar coins?

Yeah, good job! You should have seen my note pad yesterday, I had so muc hmath written down it was crazy, but it all wouldn't have worked out because of the wheat penny addition. Algebra fails again in the real world.

Thanks, guys!

Mila_cent, I feel like you beat me last year by a hair too.

Also, everyone should learn the power of excel. Hmm.. maybe I should figure out a way to make a program that calculates the possible values for me...

Also, everyone should learn the power of excel.

I did, but I was trying to do it on the computer with Notepad and calculator at first until I realized I could plug formula's into Excel. Still can be a little time consuming, but you don't pull your hair out afterwards. (Actually the second I had in probably 20 minutes).

Well, I knew I wouldn't win, but had fun playing!

Congrats to thedeadpoint!!! :ninja:

What do you consider when choosing a place to search? I imagine I'd be successful searching around gas stations, but then again, they may not like a guy wandering around their station. I would look for lots of foot traffic, things like vending machines, pay phones, etc.... but that's all I can think of.

You can't leave us hanging like that! What was the one "other foreign"?

Since 2002 I have found 11 "others" they have included Mexico, England, Australia,Germany and the Philippines.

I'll have to check and see what this years was as I don't recall off the top of my head.

Public areas like you point out are good if you can dig a bit. I do lots of school yards parks and playgrounds. Places where people get vertical are best.

Private homes if you can get permission.
