I hope my mentioning this here doesn't throw the cabash on the deal but I reached a agreement today with a Goetz family member to purchase Karl Goetz' personal medal cabinet. In 1905 the cabinet was custom made out of an antique 1880 amoire made of walnut. Upon opening this 7' tall cabinet you will find 80 drawers of which Goetz kept his finest medals. The cabinet has sat empty since the the early 1990's when the collection was sold by the family via a Gorny & Mosch auction.

It cost an arm and leg and it'll take my other arm and leg to ship it from Munich to Oregon but it'll certainly lend credence to my collection which will be housed in it.

The piece comes with several Goetz memorabilia perks of which I will write about when the items arrive. I probably won't have the piece in my possession until late Spring at which time I'll share images with you.

I just had to share the news.

As if the medals were not fine enough on their own, you now return them to the full splendor of the artist's own collection. Splendid purchase. Congratulations.
