Constitutional status at time of issue; British colony.Unilaterally declared independence on 11.11.1965 as a self-declared Dominion.Became a self-declared Republic on 2.3.1970.Declared to be the Republic of Zimbabwe-Rhodesia during 1979.A Governor came to power in December 1979.His first act was to declare the U.D.I. null & void,& Rhodesia to be under British rule.

 

Rhodesia was the only place in the British Commonwealth whose postal orders were cardboard.Unlike other postal orders,the Rhodesian ones looked a bit like Braille cards for the blind.

 

Last day of issue; 16.4.1980.
