sbvenman
I was wondering if anyone new a good equivalent to the Red Book for French Coinage. I've tried searches, but without a specific title to look for I've had a hard time finding it and I haven't had luck at any bookstores. I have a guide to world coinage, but I'd like something more specific like the red Book just for French Pieces. I would prefer if the book was in French. Thanks, Scott

The most commonly used French catalog is AFAIK the Gadoury. The company's website is here http://www.gadoury.com/ Don't know if this catalog for example is a Red Book equivalent, but it seems to be quite comprehensive: "Monnaies Françaises 1789-2007" http://catalog.mtrade.com/cgi-win/Catalog....doury;Query=M9E Another option could be this catalog: "Le Franc VII - Les Monnaies" http://www.numishop.eu/boutique-lib-livres...ismatiques.html (then search for le franc in "Titres"). Both books are in French. For Switzerland the "standard" catalog is the KMZ. Volume 2 covers modern pieces from the 15-16c until today. http://www.battenberg.de/index.php?seite=b...13&cat_id=1 ("Inhaltsverzeichnis" is table of contents, "Leseprobe" is a sample.) But that would be in German ... Christian
