On the back of 1 dollar and 2 dollar bills have differnt denomination on the back. the back has 10 dollars going different directions. Look kinda like an uncut sheet on the back. Is this a Error???? How Common Is this??? What is the value??? Sorry no pics today. I can take some if this would help.

it's not an error...it was definitely done on purpose. i believe it happened whenever a particular bank went belly-up. paper was scarce, so other banks that were still in business would reuse the remaining supply of uncut sheets. every note i've seen of this type has the uncut banknotes going the opposite direction than the newer printing.

i don't collect obsoletes, so i have no idea about the value/rarity.

It was not uncommon to "recycle" paper in this way. The orientation was changed so as not to have a full image of the old denomination once the sheets were cut. This made it clear which was the intended side.

As San_Miguel says, this is not an error. Value likely depends only on the issue and condition. I don't collect obsoletes, either, but if you can specify which notes and what grade each is, I can look them up in recent catalogs to get some idea.

lol...i'm still confused why the bank of augusta took a large amount of money and made it smaller.

if it was inflation, shouldn't they have turned it into something bigger to adjust? i'm just really curious. yours are the first i've seen where the notes on the front and back both belonged to the same bank. maybe they were just really desperate for small change? :ninja:
