Nameplate: 30mm x 57mm, gilt and with a pin clasp back (large badge only) Pin Clasp: Attached at back of ribbon, military style (small badge only). Ribbon: Red/white/blue/yellow/blue/white/red Pendant: 38mm or 19mm, round, bronze and looped. Obverse: Statue of St. Louis IX of France, the city’s namesake. Encircling above the statue is the St. Louis arch. The ANA seal is included. Reverse: Fleur-de-lis at center with symbols of the three river lines symbolizing the three national groups who developed the city, Spanish, German, and French. Surrounding arch encased elements depict St. Louis’ role in the areas of westward expansion, exploration, technology, enterprise, industry, and science. Space capsule, Spirit of St. Louis, first railroad west of Mississippi, covered wagons, and river boats, are depicted. Medals: Identical to badge except un-looped. Bronze 38mm, silver 38mm, and bronze 19mm, issued as sets of three in a white Plexiglas holder. 450 serial numbered sets were issued. This is the 38mm badge.
