akdrv
PHOENIX — And the winners are: the Grand Canyon and a saguaro. Gov. Janet Napolitano will announce today that she has chosen the design for the new state quarter that includes perhaps the two most recognizable features of Arizona. The design, also the winner in a public vote, will include a rising or setting sun; not even members of the special commission that picked the design were sure which it was. http://www.azstarnet.com/news/180918
syzygy
Yeah, I guess it's pretty nice - certainly predictable. Problem with a busy design is that you don't get to emphasize any one element and the saguaro is worthy of emphasis. I'm begining to think that the Hawaii design is going to be my favorite SQ and I haven't even seen one in the metal.

willieboyd2
Arizona picked a well-used state emblem: From 1935, a sales tax token.
De Orc
Now for a tax token that is rather good, I do like the symbolism of that cactus LOL
