Dads Stuff
Does the barcode on the label of the slab indentify the coin in any way or is it an identifier only within the grading company? Thanks, Linda
Art
Good question. It is my understanding that it is simply the barcode version of the ID number printed on the slab. The number on PCGS slabs, I've been told, identifies the series. NGC slabs supposedly do not. You may want to go to the NGC and PCGS and ANACS sites and ask this question if no one here has the true answer. PS - Hello -- nice to hear from you again. Hope your Spring is going well. thedeadpoint
One thing you could do is to compare between slabs. If you have a couple of slabbed walking liberty halves from NGC... how does the barcode vary? How about if its PCGS? Suppose you have two coins of the same date and mint and denom... how do their barcodes vary? I'll check out my slabbed coins when I go home for the weekend (can't wait!)
