janneen
Hello! Bitkin's book doesn't seem to mention this "no mintmaster's mark" coin. Why is that? Janne http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...p;rd=1&rd=
gxseries
I believe that is the year when the French mint minted some coins for Russia. That may explain the absence of the mintmaster.
WCO
Hello! Bitkin's book doesn't seem to mention this "no mintmaster's mark" coin. Why is that? Janne http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...p;rd=1&rd=1 Bitkin does mention it just on a different page. Despite that seller specified that this one is minted on St. Peterburgh mint it is not true. This one is minted on Strasburgh or Paris mints. Mintage of this kind was 13,300,000 pieces. The coin is absolutely common worth $5-10 in XF. There is scarce variety of this coin with edge made with round dots, that one worth $100+ in XF but it is very unlikely that you purchased this scarce one. janneen
Ok, thank You for the information! I have to get a good reference book from somewhere (Only got Uzdenikov). I've been looking for R.W Julians book of russian silver coins, but haven't found one yet. Janne
gxseries
Janne, if you actually read the entire Uzdenikov especially the reference section and in the part of foreign mint, it is stated there. I have it on page 609 and 611 on the second edition of Uzdenikov. Suprisingly his book is amazingly condensed - makes me wonder how he managed to compress so much infomation in some 600 pages.
