My daughter has been sifting through the 5000 Wheat cent bag the last few weeks.

Then this made and appearance and for a couple of seconds the heart skips a beat until you look at the third numeral and how far away the fourth numeral is :ninja:

What is strange is that most fakes are 1944 modified by deleting part of the 4. This would indicate the now 1 in front of the 4 is closer than normal. Yours is just the opposite. The 1 is slightly to the 9. You may want to check futher by contacting coppercoins.com to see what they say. Could be a 1914 with a hit that made it appear as if a fake.

My daughter gave me a similar moment while we were searching a bag of Lincolns several years ago. She said something like, "Dad, this one says 1955 but it's kinda blurry." Turned out to be encrusted with something sticky like sugar syrup and wasn't a double die.
