I was interviewed by a local publication today about coins and ways for people to learn about them after i gave a brief description about some coins that have value that I have found in change... they asked me if there were any websites that people can use to learn about coins...what did i say?? "coinpeople.com is a great place for the average person to learn about coins" so hopefully the exposure will help to bring in some new members :ninja:

True it's great to have a massive amount of people on this forum but remember this. If these new people are new to coin collecting and now start collecting because of the information they acquire here, my chances of finding coins I need or want will decrease accordingly. For each new coin collector there are only so many of each coin made. As an example of that there are 258,270,001 Lincoln Cents made in 1968 at San Fransico. If due to this forum we create 258,270,002 coin collectors that want Lincoln Cents, it would probably be me that doesn't get one. :ninja:;)

aparently... he didn't listen to what i said... as a lot of the information he states is just not what I told him.

I can see why you would want to put some distance between you and that article. Horrible! :ninja:

" “Here’s what to look for" :

Any coin that looks unusual, such as irregular die stamping; “Wheat” pennies (minted 1909 to 1959); Pennies dated 1909 and “DVDB” marked;... "

Hey Matt, do you have any of those DVDB cents for sale? They must be rare because my redbook doesn't mention them.

I mean he seemed like a nice guy...we talked for about 45 min and he wrote down all the things I told him. But aparently it rained on his notes or the dog ate them or something... hahaha

The byline shows Sharon Listenberger. Is this really a guy? Or did one person conduct the interview and another write the article? That might explain a lot, while excusing nothing.

Sorry you had to find out the hard way, but reporters and their editors have agendas :ninja:

I was interviewed years ago for a local newspaper concerning something directly related to my business at the time, and the reporter quoted me directly, he had all the words correct, he just neglected to put them in the same context as when he originally asked me those questions. He flat-out lied about what questions he asked me. I don't trust reporters at all.

Sounds like a lot of his article was based on the Mint's wonderful new marketing campaign that basically insults their core market by implying they have some sort of disorder...

icon_smile_agree.gif That is what I am suspecting. But still might attract some new comers here! Good going Dutchman!
