Drusus
I have one coin where the top of the side letter is towards the reverse...the rest seem to be towards the portrait...which way is the side lettering supposed to be pointing towards...obv or rev or does it matter? Burks
It doesn't matter. If I understand the production correctly, the side are lettered before the the coin faces are struck. So either way is possible.

mgk920
It doesn't matter. If I understand the production correctly, the side are lettered before the the coin faces are struck. So either way is possible. They are actually edge-lettered after being struck, but they roll down the chute in random order, so about equal amounts in either direction will be 'normal'. Same difference. Mike
