The Bulgarian National Bank will issue a special coin on January 1, 2007 to mark Bulgaria's EU entry. The total number of the new coins will be 14,000 and each one weighs 20 grams.

The Bank's emblem and the year 1879 are written the face side of the coin. The year 2007 and its value are written under the emblem, officials from BNB (Bulgarian National Banlk) announced today.

On the other side of the coin there is an open Bulgarian book placed on a column from the historic town of Preslav with the 12 stars of the EU around it.

Next year the bank will issue a 50 stotinki coin on the same subject.
