GURGAON: Gurgaon police unearthed a factory engaged in melting Indian currencies on Thursday night. Cops recovered coins weighing 114 quintals packed in sacks and 11 ingots weighing about 275 kg from the factory located in Basai village in sector-5.

Giving details, SSP Hanif Qureshi said that based on a tip off, cops raided the factory late on Thursday night and caught seven employees working at the factory.

"They were melting Indian currencies of 50 paise, Re 1 and Rs 2 denominations. We have no information on how the factory owners were selling these ingots and for what purpose. Our men are at work to nab the factory owners,"Qureshi added.
