akdrv
The U.S. Mint unveiled a new silver dollar Wednesday commemorating the 50th anniversary of Central High School's desegregation. This is the second coin the U.S. Mint has released depicting the event. One side of the coin shows a group of school children accompanied by an armed United States soldier, walking to school. http://www.katv.com/news/stories/0107/391297.html
sbvenman
Those pictures are from the Mint's press release. I really like the design.
BiggAndyy
The reverse is a great design and I think it will transfer very well to the coin. The obverse is clumsy, unappealing, and unless they are going to paint the soldier's legs green on every coin then it is always going to either need explaining if not actually pointed out. When I first saw it I was wondering how feet and skirts tied into desegregation. A hit and miss for me, a good reverse and an abysmal obverse.
