jtryka
What?!? You say...surely that must have been an SMS set you say...no, this was an 1867 proof set! It was only cent through silver dollar though, no gold, all PCGS graded PR-63 (maybe there was a random 62 or 64 in there), but it was a nice 10-piece set with the slabs in a wooden case with a glass cover. There was a cent, 2-cent, 3-cent silver, 3-cent nickel, nickel (no rays), half dime, dime, quarter, half dollar and dollar. Very pretty, original toning and overall a special site at a small local show, especially since there were only 625 sets produced!

Burks
Well you didn't mention you did NOT buy it.....so did you buy it? I'm sure it was a real pleasure to see. Quite a find at a small show.

Quite a find at a small show. I did ask how much he wanted for it, and he said it wasn't for sale, though someone offered him $12,500 for it, and we both agreed that was a lowball offer! PS-If I did buy it, don't you think I'd post lots of pictures?!?
Art
That would be a great set to see.
Burks
PS-If I did buy it, don't you think I'd post lots of pictures?!? If it were me I'd have a post on every board with that set. Maybe you were going to drag us along for a while and then surprise us. What do you think a reasonable price for that set would have been?

My guess would have been somewhere in the $15K-18K range (well out of the range of cash I bring to the local show! )
