The United States Mint proudly offers the Jamestown 400th Anniversary Commemorative Coins in honor of the first permanent English settlement in America. Available in both proof and uncirculated conditions, the $5 gold coin has a mintage limit of up to 100,000, while the $1 silver coin has a mintage limit of up to 500,000.

Ordered one silver for each of the boys and a gold for me. Not sure how I feel about the design so I'll wait to see them in person.

THe half eagle is horrific!!! Note how they obscure the "$5" in the brochure, that denomination makes this look like a gaming token for the high limit slots at an Indian casino! The dollar isn't too bad, might end up ordering one of those.

I'm poor. I don't care too much about modern commems, but I am a proud Virginian. So, if I had to drop a few bucks on a silver buck, should I get the UNC or Proof? I may opt for both since I did get some b-day money recently. OR I could get 2 examples of one of them.

 

Any advice?
