Being new to Russian coin collecting, I have been looking for a reliable place to purchase from. I am staying away from ebay at the moment since I am not familiar yet with spotting fakes. Is the rustypennies.com website a reliable place to buy from?

Hopefully I am not angering anyone with this type of question.

Thanks

It's OK, Angelking! I have bought from them and everything was OK. Alexander Basok is a reputable numismatist with a fine reputation.

This is one thing I meant to add to my first message to you ... if you can find a reputable dealer (or several) you can trust, you don't have to necessarily buy slabbed coins. I think that Mr. Basok is such a dealer. :ninja:

I have bought some rather significant Russian and Swedish coins from Aleks Basok, and my then 10 yr old daughter bought a Moldavia-Wallachia coin from him for $10 that is worth way more than she paid for it. He is a very personable dealer, and I enjoy meeting up with him and his wife about once a year at a show. If you see him at the show his is the table with all the Russian speakers milling about. He has a good assortment of Russian coins, and it will be hard to find nicer stuff, but he also does European crowns and some ancients.
